Big Fat Meanie

After teaching art in high school for 14 years I decided three years ago I needed a change. I loved the high school but have always wanted to do art with the little guys. It has been quite an experiance to say the least. Pee, throw up and the occasionally poop now fill my life. It used to be breakups, detentions and failed test that filled my days. I do miss the interaction of the high school students, the fashion the new music and sometimes the drama :) I know have days filled with little people asking me if I rode my horse to school, do goats eat bananas and of course.....Being called A BIG FAT MEANIE but the rollie polly ollie first grader who has stolen my heart <3

now we are barrel racers

Tonight was Sky's second Barrel lesson and she LOVES it. She has shown English for the past five years and though she has done very well she was not having fun...it was high stress and I really didn't love it. My friend Brandie let us try her barrel saddle because as those of you who have horses know saddles are $$$ and I need to sell all the English tack to get the western tack. Sky loves the barrel and pole stuff and the relaxed feeling of a western lesson. I really think she just wants to curl her hair and wear blingy belts and sparkly glitter shirts to tell you the truth?? I'll keep you posted. Albert the Hafflinger will be going to his 30day boot camp this weekend. The girl who is taking him does it all, she does barrels, shows western and english, events and does dressage so he will be in great hands. Untill tomorrow...I found this photo of a rodeo FU <3

Bananna Pacakes

Ahhh Sunday morning what a great time of the day. Horses are fed, kids are at CCD, Pedro is at the store and I am alone quite listening to Jack Johnson. Reminds me of the 40th birthday debacle. I have been listening to Jack for about 8 years. That is something I miss about teaching high school is getting to know new cool artist before they hit MTV or the airways and get ruined. I LOVE Jack J. when I taught yoga my classes listened to him and it is the best chill out music. Not to mention how beautiful the man is. So when tickets went on sale at MSG in NYC the weekend of my 40th bday of course I had to go. Pedro really didn't want to go he hates big cities but of course he said sure get the tickets book a hotel. The day comes and he tells me he doesn't have an up to date license well we kinda needed that to get into any bar in NYC so off we go to the DMV. Three hours later of me in the car freaking out we are on our way to NYC to see Jack. Long story short. I was frantic we were going to be late for the show~ we got there just in time. Seats were horrid we could not hear a thing and after a few too many gin and light tonics to calm my nerves we ended up leaving the concert I wanted six months to see. Moral of the story go see the hot surfer musician with a best girlfriend.....never a husband who really didn't want to go anyway.

Recap of the week

So everyone keeps telling me that my life gets so crazy I should write a blog. I guess I finally realized that my life is a bit different from others. Monday...get home from work , rushing to get the stalls done, hay and water and get Sky and MK to their first barrel lesson. Check on the girls who are applying mascara...I guess you ride faster with that on. Muck, water, hay, walk up to get Sookie, Albert and Lucky Pony and what do you know...someone whose name shall remain unnamed (Pete) left the gate open. So I run down the path grab MK and Sky and off we go. Well and hour and forty Five min later we have them. Off to barrel lesson we go......ahhhh and thats just this week.
